Large-scale event coverage for expos, trade shows, and multi-day conventions

Conventions operate at a scale that most photography companies aren’t equipped to handle. Tens of thousands of attendees, sprawling exhibit halls, dozens of concurrent sessions, and multi-day schedules that start at sunrise and end well past dinner. You need a team that’s done this before — many times.

From the Hip Photo is a full-time, five-photographer studio based in Denver, Colorado that has spent nearly two decades photographing conventions, expos, and large-scale events at venues across the country. We know what it takes to deliver comprehensive coverage of a complex, high-energy event without missing a beat.

Convention vs. Conference

While the terms often get used interchangeably, conventions and conferences have meaningfully different photography needs. Conferences tend to be education-focused with keynotes, panels, and breakout sessions. Conventions are broader in scope — they typically include all of those elements plus a significant exhibit hall or expo floor, product demonstrations, fan or attendee activations, and a much larger footprint.

That larger scale means more photographers, more coordination, and a coverage plan that accounts for the sheer volume of activity happening at any given moment. It’s the kind of environment where our full-time team model really shines — our photographers work together daily and communicate seamlessly during events.

What We Cover at Conventions

Exhibit Halls and Expo Floors. The exhibit hall is the heart of most conventions. We document booth activity, product demos, attendee engagement, and the overall energy of the floor.
Keynotes and General Sessions. Convention keynotes often happen on massive stages in front of thousands. We capture both the speaker and the scale of the audience.
Breakout Sessions and Workshops. With dozens of sessions running concurrently, we build a rotation schedule so every track gets documented.
Activations and Experiences. Interactive installations, VR demos, product launches, and experiential marketing — we capture the engagement that makes these worth the investment.
Networking Events and Parties. Convention after-parties, welcome receptions, and sponsor dinners — we photograph the energy without being intrusive.
B-Roll Video. Add video capture to any photography package. Edited recap videos start at $500 per 30 seconds of finished content.

Apart from the stunning photos, the customer support and communication throughout the process were exceptional.

Multi-Photographer Teams for Large-Scale Events

Most conventions need more than one photographer. A 50,000-attendee expo with a 200,000-square-foot exhibit hall, concurrent breakout tracks, and evening programming might need three or four photographers working in coordinated shifts. We handle the logistics so your team doesn’t have to.

Every engagement includes a dedicated lead photographer who serves as your single point of contact. They coordinate the team, manage the shot list, and make real-time decisions about where to be and when — so you can focus on running your event.

We also travel nationwide for conventions in Las Vegas, Chicago, Orlando, New York, and beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is convention photography priced?

Pricing is based on the number of photographers and hours of coverage. Every package includes pre-event coordination, professional retouching, high-resolution digital delivery, and perpetual royalty-free usage rights. View our pricing guide →

How many images will we receive?

We typically deliver 50 or more retouched images per photographer per hour. For a large convention with three photographers covering eight hours a day over three days, that’s 3,600+ polished images.

Can we get images during the event?

Yes. We offer same-day delivery of select images so your social media team can post in real time while the convention is still happening.

What if our convention is outside Denver?

We photograph conventions across the country. Travel costs are included in your quote upfront — no surprise invoices after the event.

Let’s Plan Your Convention Coverage

Whether it’s a 500-person regional expo or a 75,000-attendee national convention, we’ll build a multi-photographer coverage plan that matches the scale and complexity of your event.
