Event Photography and Video — When to Add B-Roll to Your Package

Conference event photography and video coverage at Denver venue

Photography captures moments. Video captures motion, energy, and atmosphere. For many conferences and corporate events, a combination of both delivers the most complete visual record — and the most versatile marketing assets. Here’s when it makes sense to add video to your event photography package.

What B-Roll Video Is (and Isn’t)

Let’s be clear about what we mean by B-roll. It’s supplementary footage captured throughout the event by your photographer: wide shots of the venue and crowd, audience reactions during keynotes, networking conversations and candid moments, exhibit hall activity and booth engagement, environmental shots (signage, decor, setup), and social event energy.

What it’s not: a full video production with a dedicated videographer, interviews, and scripted segments. That’s a separate service (and a separate budget). B-roll is designed to be efficient — your photographer captures video alongside their photo coverage, so you get both deliverables from a single team member on the ground.

When B-Roll Makes Sense

Social media content: Short-form video dominates social media. A 15-30 second clip of your event’s energy performs better than almost any static post. If your marketing team is active on Instagram, LinkedIn, or TikTok, B-roll gives them the raw material they need.

Recap videos: A 60-90 second edited recap video is one of the most powerful promotional tools for next year’s event. It shows prospective attendees exactly what they missed — and what they should register for. Our edited recaps start at $500 per 30 seconds.

Sponsor deliverables: Video clips of sponsor activations, booth traffic, and branded moments add another dimension to your sponsor reports. It’s one thing to show a sponsor a photo of their booth; it’s another to show them 15 seconds of continuous foot traffic.

Internal communications: Company-wide events, leadership summits, and retreats benefit from video that captures the atmosphere and culture in a way photos alone can’t.

When Photos Alone Are Enough

For many conferences, high-quality photography alone covers everything you need. If your primary uses are website content, annual reports, email marketing, and sponsor reports — a comprehensive photo gallery delivers enormous value without the added cost of video. B-roll is a complement, not a replacement.

Our Video Add-On

We offer B-roll video as an add-on to any photography package, starting at $1,500. Your photographer captures horizontal or vertical video throughout the day alongside their photo coverage. The raw footage is delivered within two weeks, or we can produce an edited recap video with color correction and music at $500 per 30 seconds.

The beauty of the add-on model is that you don’t need to hire and coordinate a separate video team. Your photographer already understands your event, your brand, and your shot list — they simply capture both mediums as they move through the day.
